MAKING FACES!

I finally finished my animal quilt entitled MAKING FACES. As my friends know, I am a dog lover so this project was dear to my heart. I am the mother of 4 rescue dogs and 1 planned adoption! I learned some new quilting techniques and had a lot of fun with the design. This quilt is 36" x 55" and machine quilted.

This is a photo of my sister Anita and her dog Buddy in the swimming pool!! I then made it into a 12" x 12" quilt. She finally received her birthday gift this past weekend so now I can share her photos with you. I love the way it turned out. Happy Birthday sis!

A FEW SMALLER QUILT PROJECTS

Niece's Wedding Gift

I just returned from my niece's wedding in ARIZONA. This is a before picture of the quilt I made her as a wedding gift. I was very pleased with the way it came out. Unfortunately the photo/photographer did not do it justice. The finished quilt has eagles silhouettes flying high in the sky and an armidillo in the foreground. The prickly pear cactus and rocks are 3D. There are also two matching pillows (not shown.) I guess I need my sister or niece to send me a better photo. BEST WISHES TO BRIDGET and DAVE

"There's a Frog in My Soup?" Recipe Book

We, the Perez Zeledon International Women's Group, have been busy over the last several months creating a bilingual recipe book that helps inform and celebrate the local produce of Costa Rica. Not sure what to do with an Ayote, Chayote, Pejipaye, Tiquisque, Nampi, or Mamon Chino...we can help!

This book is a tribute and “thank you” to the farmers who toil in the blazing sun, pouring rain and up vertical hillsides to bring us such wonderful produce, and to the farmers who produce our excellent meat, poultry and dairy products.

The recipe book is 5,000 colones or $10. All proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to Hogar Betania, a residence for the elderly and sick in our community who do not have family and resources to help them in the final stages of their lives.

Thanks to everyone for all their help in this project.

If you would like to buy a copy of this Recipe Book, look for our booth at the San Isidro Feria every Thursday or you can contact me at elticomata@yahoo.com

Everyone Needs A Quiet Place

I found this old blog post that never got published. This summer I finished my studio space and I am sooo happy. My studio sits about 25 feet from the river. The view is great and I have so much space to work in. It is my little piece of paradise in the jungle.
