"There's a Frog in My Soup?" Recipe Book

We, the Perez Zeledon International Women's Group, have been busy over the last several months creating a bilingual recipe book that helps inform and celebrate the local produce of Costa Rica. Not sure what to do with an Ayote, Chayote, Pejipaye, Tiquisque, Nampi, or Mamon Chino...we can help!

This book is a tribute and “thank you” to the farmers who toil in the blazing sun, pouring rain and up vertical hillsides to bring us such wonderful produce, and to the farmers who produce our excellent meat, poultry and dairy products.

The recipe book is 5,000 colones or $10. All proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to Hogar Betania, a residence for the elderly and sick in our community who do not have family and resources to help them in the final stages of their lives.

Everyone Needs A Quiet Place

I found this old blog post that never got published. This summer I finished my studio space and I am sooo happy. My studio sits about 25 feet from the river. The view is great and I have so much space to work in. It is my little piece of paradise in the jungle.

The newest addition to our Family

Her name is "PEANUT" and she is a handful. She is a Costarican street dog that I found as an abandoned puppy at 2 months old. She rules the other 4 dogs and calls the shots. Right now she is walking around the yard with a chain and a 2x4. I hate to do that but she keeps running off to the neighbors yard where they have chickens. Once a dog kills a chicken, that's it...Can't teach an old dog a new trick.

My Newest Project - Puda Vida Pet Beds

Puda Vida Pet Beds

As a new “pet” mother I want nothing but the best for my “extended” family. As such I have designed these pet beds to be comfortable, practical and stylish. I even offer the option of adding an artistically hand-crafted, breed specific, applique design. Just too cute for words!

These pet beds are made of a washable microsuede covering over a removeable foam stuffed pillow.

Celebrating New Year 2009-2010

My sister in law came to visit us over the holidays. She was the first mother to our 3 baby girls. We all had a great time swimming in the river and going for walks.
